Training Profile - South Australian Native Title Services

One of the best ways to improve operations is through training, and making sure your staff are the best they can be. For Business SA member South Australian Native Title Services, ongoing training is essential to prepare its 29 employees for challenges and to address any skills gaps. SANTS invests in both scheduled and onsite training to meet its everchanging needs.

SANTS is a not-for-profit organisation which delivers services to South Australian Aboriginal communities including the recognition of Native Title rights, anthropological research and community liaison, negotiations and determinations logistics, training in governance and natural and cultural resource management, community, organisational and economic development services, and financial and human resource services.

"At SANTS we invest in regular staff training and development to provide them with the tools they need to do their jobs, improve wellbeing and team building, and help prepare them for changes within the industry," says SANTS Business Services and HR manager, Nicole Galliford.

"It's more cost-effective to bring someone in to train our staff and Business SA's training courses are always useful, topical and beneficial to our employees."

With many of its employees travelling long distances to meet with Aboriginal communities, SANTS recently invested in Fatigue Management to minimise potential fatigue risk factors - conveniently delivered at its workplace in the city.

Since completing the course, SANTS has been reviewing its travel policy.

SANTS also invests in ongoing Work Health and Safety training for all levels of its business to increases productivity, decrease risks, and ensure its staff are aware of their responsibilities.
