Member Training Profile – Clayton Church Homes

This year marks 50 years of service for Clayton Church Homes. The not-for-profit organisation offers aged care, independent living and respite housing options to more than 350 South Australian senior citizens, with facilities in Prospect, Magill, Uraidla and Elizabeth Park.

Quality care for residents is paramount to Clayton Church Homes, which is why they invest in ongoing onsite training with Business SA.

“We ensure our staff have the best opportunities to enhance their knowledge, experience and skills through ongoing education, to optimise their performance and the quality of care for our residents,” says Terry Learmonth, Clayton Church Homes Human Resources Manager and WHS Committee Chair.

Business SA recently delivered onsite training at Clayton Church Homes, on WHS for Officers and Your Safety Committee and WHS. Onsite training appealed to Terry because it could be done after hours, in and around the participants’ commitments.

“We wanted to ensure we had a WHS Committee that understood their legal obligations and how they could support each other at each site, but also to help the executives and board members maintain a safe, engaging, healthy and compliant workplace”, she says.

Terry says the training outcomes have already had a positive impact, including an enhanced general awareness of WHS, and what needs to be done to fill in the gaps to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of its staff and residents are maintained.
