Adapting to future workplace and skilling needs

The world of work is changing at a rapid pace thanks to technological advances. Employers, education providers and workers need to keep up, which can be hard when many of the jobs of the future haven’t yet been invented.

Who would have thought five years ago that a person could make a living out of being a social strategist? Or data analysts would be among the most sought after qualifications and highest paid jobs on offer?

According to several studies, including research compiled by the National Centre for Vocational Education and Training, the lifecycle of skills is getting shorter. That means people need to upskill more regularly, swap careers more frequently, and learn new tricks to ensure they can stay employable and find meaningful work in a changing marketplace.

Demand for soft skills is increasing, where people can increasingly adapt to workplace changes, along with the need for digital literacy, transferable skills across industries, and entrepreneurship.

Universities, TAFEs and other training providers are having to adapt quickly, and Business SA can help with the transition through our diverse range of courses.
