Sustainable business practice that strives to use resources efficiently makes business sense and ensures South Australia can be a prosperous and successful State for generations to come. Reducing water and energy costs and managing waste production are the key areas that businesses can be more sustainable.
The Waste to Resources fund was set up to fund and support sustainability in the waste industry, initially through Zero Waste and now through Green Industries SA. Business SA remains concerned that while business will continue to pay more for the solid waste levy, the actual funding for Green Industries SA will decrease. This increase will have a flow on effect to the cash reserves held in the Waste to Resources Fund.
The Waste to Resources fund could be better utilised to support business in South Australia. All the funds in the Waste to Resources Fund must be used to support improvements in waste management and sustainable business practice in South Australia.
