Boosting Southern Adelaide Businesses in a New and Unique Partnership

3 June 2018

The Southern Adelaide Economic Development Board will be joining forces with Business SA and the Onkaparinga and Marion councils to create a unique partnership, aiming to support small to medium-sized businesses in the region to grow.

The partnership enables all businesses within the two council areas to access a range of services, products, programs and support tools offered through Business SA for 12 months.

Southern Adelaide Economic Development Board chair Nikki Govan, a local restaurant owner and Business SA deputy chair, said the partnership would help businesses of all shapes and sizes.

“This partnership gives businesses access to a variety of services including the Business SA advice hotline, networking opportunities, educational events, mentoring and up-to-date business insight reports, as well as a host of other tools and events offered through the City of Onkaparinga’s ON Business Partner Program and the City of Marion’s Open for Business Program,” Ms Govan said.

“We want to help strengthen the local economy and part of this is giving southern Adelaide businesses the support and resources they need grow, prosper and succeed.”

“By working together, we can contribute to the short-term economic development of southern Adelaide, as well as the long-term transformation required to create a robust business community.”

The partnership will complement the work being done by the Southern Adelaide Economic Development Board and Onkaparinga and Marion councils’ specialised business programs which maximise local business potential and enhance the local economy.

Ms Govan said businesses in both council areas would have access to the products, services and offers available to Business SA members for 12 months from the date of joining.

“We look forward to working together to ensure all southern businesses can benefit from the Southern Adelaide Economic Development Board, Business SA, and the Onkaparinga and Marion councils’ shared wisdom,” she said.

The Southern Adelaide Economic Development Board works in partnership with local business support agencies to ensure businesses are given opportunities to grow and succeed.

As South Australia’s largest member-based business and employer organisation, Business SA exists to help members and the wider community grow their business, watch their back and save them money through mentoring, education, entrepreneurship programs, advice and advocacy.

The City of Onkaparinga’s On Business Partner Program offers a business advisory service, educational events, connections and strategic partnerships.

The City of Marion’s Open for Business program provides business support services, connections to local skills, training providers and associations, networking, economic information and initiatives including digital economy projects and workforce development.
